Vermont home inspector license
Vermont's Office of Professional Regulation licenses property inspectors, who need 80 hours of approved education and a nationally recognized proctored exam, or an accepted certification in their place.

- Who licenses
- The Office of Professional Regulation in the Secretary of State's Office, with the Property Inspector Advisors.
- Who can apply
- At least 18 years old, with a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Education
- At least 80 hours of education approved by the Director, covering heating systems, cooling systems, plumbing, electrical, structural components, foundations, roof coverings, exterior and interior components, and site aspects.
- Exam
- An independent, nationally recognized, proctored examination identified by rule. The National Home Inspector Examination is administered by PSI.
- Certification
- Proof of certification issued by an independent, nationally recognized organization that provides certification for property inspectors satisfies the education and examination requirements.
- Out-of-state applicants
- The Fast Track Endorsement, for an active license in good standing in another state for at least three years immediately before applying.
- Renewal
- Every two years. If the license is not renewed, all privileges granted to the licensee are suspended from the expiration date.
