Arkansas home inspector registration
The State Board of Appraisers, Abstracters, and Home Inspectors registers Arkansas's home inspectors, and an applicant completes 64 hours of instruction and 16 hours of field training, passes two examinations and carries professional liability or errors and omissions insurance of at least $100,000.

- Who registers
- The State Board of Appraisers, Abstracters, and Home Inspectors, through its Home Inspector Registration Board.
- Who can apply
- Submit a board application form, a current certificate of insurance, the fee, and a certified copy of your exam result.
- Training
- 64 hours of instruction and 16 hours of field training, completed within the three years before you apply. City inspectors certified by the International Code Council, and contractors with a builder's license and ten years' experience as a contractor, need no training but must still pass the exam.
- Exams
- The National Home Inspector Examination and the ASHI Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics Examination.
- Insurance
- Professional liability or errors and omissions insurance of at least $100,000. Submit a current certificate of insurance with your application.
- Fees
- The initial registration fee and the renewal fee are each $250. The Board's renewal page says the renewal fee is $185 ($250 – $65 discount).
- Renewal
- Registrations expire on December 31 each year. Renewal after December 31 includes the fee and $50 for each month or partial month you are late.
- Continuing education
- Renewal requires the equivalent of 14 hours per year of approved continuing education preceding the renewal. At least eight of the hours must be mandatory courses. Completion certificates are required; attendance verifications are not accepted.
- Out-of-state applicants
- The law gives no separate route for a registration from another state. The same examinations, insurance and application apply to every applicant.
