Where InspectDay fits better

Inspectors who work from a phone and need opened inspections to stay on the device.

What it does well

  • Solo is $49.00 a month for one inspector and one admin. Team is $149.00 a month for three inspectors and unlimited admins.
  • The free plan is one inspector and one template.
  • Inspections are unlimited on every plan, Free included. Publishing and sharing reports is not metered by plan.
  • Extra inspector seats can be bought on Team.
  • On the phone, photos and video can be captured, and photos annotated on Android and iOS. Voice notes are recorded on the device.
  • Opened inspections stay on the phone, and changes to them are queued for sending.
  • New customers get a seven-day free trial on Solo and Team, at checkout.

Where it is weaker

  • Templates cannot be imported or exported, and they have no versioning.
  • Clients are free-text fields on an inspection, and there is no client database.
  • The only CSV export is the inspection list's columns. Findings, media and report content are not included.
  • Reports carry no website.
  • On the phone, creating an inspection, choosing a template and opening a report need a connection.
  • Queued changes send only while the app is open; the phone app will not publish an inspection while its changes are waiting to send or have failed, and failed changes stay on the device until retried or discarded.
  • There is no Windows app. The phone app runs on Android and iOS, and the web app runs in any browser.

Where Spectora fits better

Businesses that run client and agent contacts, template and data files, or an API from the software.

What it does well

  • Clients and agents sit under Contacts, and each list exports as CSV.
  • Templates export as plain text or HTML. Plain text removes links, videos, images and styling; HTML keeps links, styling and formatting.
  • Data Exports are available on every account, and the Inspection Data export includes all inspection details. Custom data exports need Advanced.
  • The Spectora public API and the AI connector (MCP) are now available to every company. The AI connector is read-only today.
  • On Apple and Android, a report can be edited without an internet connection once it is loaded onto the app.
  • The software trial is two free inspections, with no time limit and no credit card required.

Where it is weaker

  • The software costs $109 a month or $1,090 a year. Each additional inspector costs $99 a month or $999 a year. Advanced costs $4 per inspection.
  • Advanced's button reads START 30-DAY FREE TRIAL. Check whether that trial asks for a card before you start it; the pricing page does not say.
  • The web software needs an internet connection for tasks such as report writing. If the internet goes out, reports cannot be completed on the web version.
  • The mobile app is not available in the Microsoft App Store. Surface Pros and Chromebooks cannot run it, but can access Spectora.com in a web browser. Microsoft tablets are not compatible with the app.
  • Email and SMS capabilities are not included in the free trial and are only available in paid plans.
  • For U.S. customers only, Fixle Protection Products are on by default for new accounts. Turn off Fixle offers under Settings, then Buyer Protection Products.
