Nebraska home inspector registration
Nebraska home inspectors register with the Secretary of State, and anyone who conducts a home inspection in the state must register first.
Nebraska's registration law, checked on
- Who registers
- The Nebraska Secretary of State.
- Scope
- Inspections of residential property with one to four family dwelling units.
- Registration
- Register before you conduct any home inspection in Nebraska. The registration gives your name, or the legal name of your business, your home office address, an agent for service of process, and any national home inspection certification you hold.
- Insurance and fee
- A certificate of general liability insurance of at least $250,000, sent with a $300 filing fee.
- Renewal
- A registration is valid for two years. Renew within 45 days before it expires, with a $150 renewal fee and a current insurance certificate. A renewal that arrives after the expiry date is not renewed. You must then file a new registration, and stop inspecting until it is made.
- Education and exam
- The statutes set no education, examination or field experience requirement.
- Out-of-state applicants
- Any home inspector who conducts an inspection in Nebraska must register first. The statutes give no separate route for a registrant from another state.
