# Inspection

Work through an inspection in the phone app: set each item's condition, add findings with photos and video, and publish the report.

In the menu: **Dashboard**

To do an inspection on the phone:

1. On the Dashboard, tap the inspection.
2. Tap **Start Inspection**. Once it is in progress, tap **Continue Inspection**.
3. Open a section, then an area, then an item.
4. Under **Condition**, choose **Good**, **Needs Attention**, **Deficient** or **Unable to inspect**.
5. Under **Details**, complete the fields once you have set a condition.
6. Under **Findings**, tap **Add findings manually**. Enter the **Description**, choose a **Finding Type** and a **Location**, and tap **Add Finding**.
7. To copy findings from the library instead, tap **Choose findings from library**, select them, and tap **Copy Selected**.
8. To add a photo or video to a finding, tap **Add Media** on the finding, then **Take Photo** or **Record Video**.
9. To change a finding, tap its **Finding options** menu, then **Edit**, and tap **Save**. To remove a finding, tap **Finding options**, then **Delete**. Delete removes it at once, with no confirmation.
10. When the item is done, tap **Mark Complete**.
11. On the inspection’s screen, tap **Publish**. In **Publish Report**, check the **Report Title** and tap **Publish**. Until every item is complete, the button says **Publish Progress**.
12. After publishing, tap **View & Share Report**.

To add photos or videos to an item, open the **Photos & videos** sheet from the item’s bottom bar and choose **Take Photo**, **Record Video** or **Choose from device**. A photo taken for an item opens **Annotate Photo**. Mark it up if needed, then tap **Done**.

<dt>Connection</dt>
<dd>You cannot create an inspection without a connection. You can keep working without one. Your changes stay on the phone until they are sent, and they are sent while the app is open.</dd>

<dt>Publishing</dt>
<dd>You cannot publish while changes are waiting. The inspection screen shows how many.</dd>

<dt>Video</dt>
<dd>You cannot add a video over 100 MB, whether you record it or choose it.</dd>

<dt>Choose from device</dt>
<dd>You can pick up to ten photos or videos at a time.</dd>

<dt>Library findings</dt>
<dd>You can choose findings from the library only for items from a template. For other items, add findings manually.</dd>

<dt>PDF</dt>
<dd>You cannot download a PDF on the phone. Share the report by link or by email instead.</dd></dl>
