## Who may sign

Florida home inspectors licensed under section 468.8314 with hurricane mitigation training may sign, along with certified building code inspectors (section 468.607), licensed general, building or residential contractors, licensed professional engineers and architects, and any other person or entity the insurer recognizes.

## How a home inspector qualifies

Under Florida’s [home inspector license](/home-inspector-license/florida/), you may practice as a home inspector if you pass the required exam, are of good moral character and complete a course of study of at least 120 hours.

To sign the form, you also need at least 3 hours of hurricane mitigation training approved by the Construction Industry Licensing Board, and you must have completed a proficiency exam.

## What the signer must do

The signer must inspect the structures on the form personally and certify that personal inspection. Employees and other persons may not inspect them in the signer’s place.

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation publishes the form as OIR-B1-1802 (Rev. 04/26).

The form is valid for up to five years, as long as the structure has no material changes and the form has no inaccuracies.
