Find your state's insurance or bond rule, as its license page states it.

- [Alabama](/home-inspector-license/alabama/): Bodily injury and property damage liability insurance of at least $20,000 for property damage, $50,000 for any one person and $100,000 for more than one person, plus $250,000 of errors and omissions coverage.
- [Alaska](/home-inspector-license/alaska/): A surety bond, a time certificate of deposit or a cashier’s check of $10,000. A certificate of public liability and property damage insurance of at least $20,000 for property damage, $50,000 for injury or death to one person and $100,000 for injury or death to more than one person.
- [Arizona](/home-inspector-license/arizona/): Within 60 days after certification, and before any fee-based home inspection, file one of three financial assurances. It may be errors and omissions insurance of $200,000 in the aggregate and $100,000 per occurrence, a bond of $25,000 retroactive to the certification date, or proof that minimum net assets have a value of at least $25,000.
- [Arkansas](/home-inspector-license/arkansas/): Professional liability or errors and omissions insurance of at least $100,000. Submit a current certificate of insurance with your application.
- [Connecticut](/home-inspector-license/connecticut/): Chapter 400f of the General Statutes and the Regulations of Connecticut State Agencies, 20-491, set no insurance requirement for home inspectors.
- [Delaware](/home-inspector-license/delaware/): Under the Division’s guidance, a certificate sent directly from your carrier showing at least $50,000 of errors and omissions insurance.
- [Florida](/home-inspector-license/florida/): Commercial general liability insurance of at least $300,000.
- [Illinois](/home-inspector-license/illinois/): General liability insurance of at least $100,000 to cover losses or claims against you or your home inspector entity. You attest to it on the application.
- [Indiana](/home-inspector-license/indiana/): General liability insurance of at least $100,000 from an insurer authorized in Indiana. The policy lists the state as an additional insured.
- [Iowa](/home-inspector-license/iowa/): Errors and omissions and general liability insurance of at least $100,000 per occurrence and $500,000 in the aggregate, with deductibles of no more than $2,500. Keep it for at least one year after the latest report you deliver.
- [Kentucky](/home-inspector-license/kentucky/): General liability insurance of at least $250,000, from an insurer authorized in Kentucky. The board is the certificate holder.
- [Louisiana](/home-inspector-license/louisiana/): Errors and omissions insurance and general liability insurance, each at least $300,000 per year, with a deductible of no more than $5,000.
- [Maryland](/home-inspector-license/maryland/): General liability insurance of at least $150,000.
- [Massachusetts](/home-inspector-license/massachusetts/): Errors and omissions insurance of at least $250,000 in the aggregate, for both licenses.
- [Mississippi](/home-inspector-license/mississippi/): General liability insurance and errors and omissions insurance, each of no less than $250,000 per occurrence. The certificate is in the inspector’s own name, with the Mississippi Home Inspection Division as certificate holder.
- [Montana](/home-inspector-license/montana/): Errors and omissions insurance of at least $125,000, with proof submitted.
- [Nebraska](/home-inspector-license/nebraska/): A certificate of general liability insurance of at least $250,000.
- [Nevada](/home-inspector-license/nevada/): Errors and omissions insurance of at least $100,000 and general liability insurance of at least $100,000, held by you or your employer. Proof is due with each application and renewal, and you supply it to the Division every year.
- [New Hampshire](/home-inspector-license/new-hampshire/): Proof of liability insurance with your application and with each renewal. The proof names the insurer, the certificate holder, the category and minimum amounts of coverage, and the cancellation policy.
- [New Jersey](/home-inspector-license/new-jersey/): Errors and omissions insurance of at least $500,000 per occurrence.
- [New Mexico](/home-inspector-license/new-mexico/): Errors and omissions insurance totaling at least $250,000, and professional liability insurance totaling at least $250,000. Renewal requires proof of both.
- [New York](/home-inspector-license/new-york/): Proof of a certificate of liability coverage, filed with the Department. The Department sets its terms and conditions.
- [North Carolina](/home-inspector-license/north-carolina/): General liability insurance of $250,000, and either minimum net assets or a surety bond, in an amount the Board sets between $5,000 and $10,000, or errors and omissions insurance of $250,000.
- [North Dakota](/home-inspector-license/north-dakota/): Proof of current errors and omissions insurance of $100,000 or more covering all home inspection activities. A renewal must reach the Secretary of State before July 1, with a current insurance certificate.
- [Ohio](/home-inspector-license/ohio/): Comprehensive or commercial general liability insurance of at least $100,000 per occurrence and $300,000 aggregate. If your employer is not a licensed home inspector and carries a policy that covers you, you need not carry your own.
- [Oklahoma](/home-inspector-license/oklahoma/): Comprehensive general liability insurance with limits of at least $50,000 combined single limit for bodily injury and property damage. The certificate must name the Construction Industries Board as certificate holder, not as an additional insured.
- [Oregon](/home-inspector-license/oregon/): The home inspector services endorsement carries a $15,000 bond and $100,000 per occurrence of liability insurance.
- [Pennsylvania](/home-inspector-license/pennsylvania/): Errors and omissions insurance and general liability insurance, each of at least $100,000 per occurrence and $500,000 in the aggregate, with deductibles of no more than $2,500, kept for at least one year after your latest report.
- [Tennessee](/home-inspector-license/tennessee/): General liability insurance of at least $500,000, and errors and omissions insurance, with proof in the standard Accord format.
- [Texas](/home-inspector-license/texas/): Professional liability or other insurance covering Texas Occupations Code Chapter 1102, Subchapter G, of $100,000 per occurrence, before the license issues. Upload the TREC Certificate of Insurance or Proof of Financial Responsibility form.
- [Utah](/home-inspector-license/utah/): Liability insurance of $500,000 and errors and omissions insurance of $500,000, each naming the Division as certificate holder.
- [Virginia](/home-inspector-license/virginia/): General liability insurance of at least $250,000 per occurrence. A commercial general liability or business liability policy of $250,000 is acceptable if the applicant is an additional insured.
- [West Virginia](/home-inspector-license/west-virginia/): General liability insurance of $250,000, maintained, with proof to the State Fire Marshal at renewal.
